Idea

CamKey is a smart, connection-independent locking solution designed to modernize access control for hospitality, residential, and commercial environments. Its core idea is to replace outdated key systems with a secure, camera-based verification method that works even without reliable internet connectivity. By unifying convenience, security, and versatility, CamKey aims to become the universal access system for rooms, vehicles, and shared assets.

Challenge

CamKey is solving several major challenges: unreliable or unavailable internet access that renders traditional smart locks ineffective, rising security risks tied to lost or stolen keys, and the hospitality industry’s need for frictionless, self-service guest access. By offering a secure, offline-capable system that simplifies check-in, reduces operational overhead, and eliminates key-management vulnerabilities, CamKey addresses persistent pain points across both commercial and consumer access markets.

Solution

CamKey is developing a refined, low-cost locking system that integrates advanced hardware, local edge-based verification, and optional facial recognition technology. The company is finalizing component selection, testing prototypes, and planning staged manufacturing runs for real-world trials in Airbnbs and small apartment buildings. Once validated, CamKey will scale into B2B markets hotels and high-rise developments and later into consumer applications such as homes, storage lockers, car-sharing, and yacht rentals.
