Idea

It started at school 5 years ago at tertiary when we would struggle to get somestudying snacks or drink, especially at night since all the shops would be closed. We didn't have cars and sometimes reaching shops was a nightmare, having a convenience that a vending machine brings would've been useful.Fast forward t when we moved to a new town for work, the workplace had no shops and was far from them. The employees and clients had to go to town for simple snacks and drinks. There's also a struggle to get public transportation and not everyone has a car.


Challenge

Not only are we bringing convenience, but overall saving and safety. People do nothave to travel at night to get their snacks and drinks, the vending machines will be at their locations where they feel safe. This also enables motorists to save on fuel andthose without cars don't have to go through a lot to get their snacks or drinks. Thestudents who study throughout the night can access snacks and energy drinks to helpthem through the night. The hospital clients who wait in queues for long periods in aday will have refreshments at their convenience. Workers don't have to leave theirworkplace for snacks and drinks, bringing more order in the workplace and workerscan enjoy their lunch without stressing about going out and getting snacks or drinks.

Story

It was a typical Monday morning when two students at the time, Mhayise and Refilwe, met in a taxi in Johannesburg. We had a introduction and i thought our skills and interests aligned perfectly. Refilwe, an nursing student with a passion for innovation, had been looking for a business partner to help her bring her ideas to life. Mhayise, a architectural student with a knack for identifying opportunities, was eager to join forces with someone who shared his enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. As we travelled to our destination, we discussed our respective backgrounds and interests. I shared my experience designing buildings, while Refilwe talked about her idea in launching new products and services for the medical industry. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, and they quickly discovered a shared passion for creating a business that would bring convenience and innovation to the South African market. During our meeting, Refilwe mentioned her fascination with vending machines and how they could be used to dispense more than just snacks and drinks. My eyes lit up as i realized the potential for vending machines to solve everyday problems in Sout Africa, such as accessing essential products in remote areas or providing healthy foodoptions in urban centers.As we were brainstorming, our idea began to take shape. We would start a vending machine business that offered a wide range of products,from healthy snacks and fresh food to personal care items and household essentials. Our machines would be designed to be user-friendly, efficient, and adaptable to different environments. We decided to form a partnership, combining our skills and expertise to launch our startup vending machine business. Over the next few weeks, we worked tirelessly to refine our concept, conduct market research, and develop a solid business plan. Their hard work paid off, and soon they were ready to launch their company,QuickVend. With a strong partnership and a innovative approach, they were poised to revolutionize the vending machine industry in South Africa.
