Idea

TrackenT is a specialized engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) startup that focuses on the delivery of large-scale, integrated two-axis solar tracking structures for utility-scale photovoltaic power plants and concentrated solar power (CSP) projects. The company targets the most mechanically complex and mission-critical subsystem of solar plants: the tracking structure. By offering a centralized, megawatt-scale two-axis tracker, TrackenT aims to enhance solar power efficiency and reduce operational costs, including installation, maintenance, motor count, control electronics, and cabling. The product also facilitates the efficient use of land, maximizing solar radiation while eliminating shading issues that can affect energy yield.

Challenge

The challenges TrackenT is addressing include the high operational and maintenance costs of current solar tracker systems, their vulnerability to failure due to mechanical complexity, and inefficiencies in land use. Existing tracker solutions, which rely on numerous smaller units, lead to increased downtime and higher costs for power plants over their lifetime. TrackenT's approach to centralized, large-scale tracker systems eliminates these challenges, offering reduced complexity, increased reliability, and optimized energy yield. By replacing fixed or single-axis trackers with its dual-axis system, TrackenT provides a scalable, cost-effective solution that performs better in high-irradiance regions and improves overall solar plant performance.

Solution

TrackenT offers a solution for the inefficiencies present in conventional solar tracker systems, which rely on numerous independent units that introduce complexity, failure risks, and high operation and maintenance costs. These systems also suffer from shading problems, as each tracker casts a shadow on others, reducing power output. By offering a system-level mechanical integration, TrackenT provides a centralized two-axis tracking solution that simplifies operation, improves reliability, and reduces lifecycle costs. Its system optimizes land use and avoids shading, making it a cost-effective solution for solar developers and independent power producers (IPPs).
