Idea
The Beekays is a 100% black women–owned start-up trucking and logistics company based in Khuma Location, Stilfontein, in the North West Province of South Africa. The company’s core idea is to provide professional freight transportation and logistics management services to business clients across South Africa, beginning in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District. By leveraging its proximity to mining operations, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, the beekays aims to participate meaningfully in regional supply chains while contributing to local economic development and employment creation.
Challenge
The Beekays is responding to key challenges in the trucking and logistics sector, including high operating costs, unreliable service providers, inefficient fleet utilization, and limited access to dependable transport in mining-adjacent communities. The company tackles these challenges by prioritising cost control, vehicle efficiency, reliable drivers, and effective logistics planning, while also overcoming local unemployment by creating new jobs. In doing so, the beekays seeks to improve supply chain reliability for clients while supporting sustainable economic growth in the North West Province.
