Smart Stride and FasterCapital today anSmartstridenced a strategic partnership through FasterCapital’s LaunchUp program to accelerate SMARTSTRIDE’s mobile marketplace for fast, local medication delivery across Tanzania. The collaboration brings funding, technical mentorship and go-to-market support to scale SMARTSTRIDE’s app-based pharmacy network and reach underserved urban and peri-urban patients.

Market opportunity & problem statement

Tanzania’s healthcare access gap and growing mobile adoption present a major opportunity: the online pharmacy market was projected at roughly $2.77 million in 2023 with double-digit CAGR, while more than 60 million residents still face inconsistent access to essential medicines. Fragmented retail pharmacy supply, long waits and limited last-mile delivery raise costs and risk for patients — especially those with chronic conditions who need reliable refills. Smartstride targets this white space with a hyperlocal marketplace model that connects customers to near-by block pharmacies for faster, cheaper fulfillment.

Smartstride’s mobile app lists inventory from partnered local pharmacies, enabling users to upload prescriptions or search OTC medicines, then receive orders in 10–15 minutes. Core features include prescription upload, geolocated pharmacy matching, real-time order tracking, ratings, and a subscription “Smart Plus” free-delivery plan for chronic patients. Smartstride’s lightweight integration with local pharmacy inventory and its delivery-sharing revenue model (platform fee plus delivery partner share) deliver low customer friction and rapid unit economics.
