Idea

RoboMed is a pioneering medical technology company developing a wireless robotic capsule that performs both endoscopy and biopsy of the small intestine through a non-invasive and digitally controlled process. The company’s core idea is to replace traditional, painful, and invasive gastrointestinal procedures with an innovative capsule that can be swallowed by the patient and controlled externally. This breakthrough approach aims to redefine gastrointestinal diagnostics by providing real-time visualization, tissue sampling, and microbiota analysis of areas previously inaccessible to conventional endoscopy—enabling early disease detection, continuous monitoring, and improved patient outcomes.

Challenge

RoboMed is addressing the major limitations of current gastrointestinal diagnostic methods, which rely on invasive and incomplete procedures like traditional endoscopy and colonoscopy. These existing approaches often fail to reach the full length of the small intestine due to its complex structure, resulting in missed diagnoses, patient discomfort, and high medical costs. Moreover, patients face risks associated with anesthesia, sedation, and radiation exposure, while healthcare providers struggle with delayed results and inefficient data integration. RoboMed’s innovation eliminates these barriers by offering a safe, accurate, and cost-effective alternative that enhances early detection, reduces procedural risks, and democratizes access to advanced gastrointestinal healthcare.

Solution

RoboMed is introducing a cutting-edge robotic capsule system designed to perform endoscopy, biopsy, and microbiota sampling of the small intestine—all through a wireless and minimally invasive method. The capsule integrates advanced robotics, high-resolution imaging, and remote communication technologies that allow doctors to observe and control the procedure in real time via a smartphone or VR/AR interface. Equipped with multiple biopsy needles and a self-sealing membrane, the capsule can collect precise tissue samples without internal surgical intervention. This comprehensive system provides simultaneous imaging and biopsy, allowing early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and improved accessibility for patients in both advanced hospitals and remote regions.
