Idea

Recycle Agricultural Waste Company (RACYCL) is an Egyptian startup dedicated to transforming underutilized agricultural resources into valuable inputs for animal feed production. The company’s core idea is to establish a specialized factory that converts agricultural residues — such as citrus tree prunings (especially sour orange), dried orange peels, tomato waste, and barley residues — into high-quality, nutrient-rich feed ingredients. This initiative seeks to turn agricultural waste into economic opportunity while promoting environmental sustainability.

Challenge

RACYCL Agricultural Waste Recycling Company tackles major economic and environmental challenges facing Egypt’s livestock sector. These include the shortage of traditional feed ingredients such as corn and soybeans, heavy reliance on imports amid rising global prices, and foreign currency constraints. Additionally, Egypt faces severe environmental issues due to the open burning of agricultural waste in fields and industrial sites. By converting these residues into valuable feed materials, RACYCL supports the circular economy, reduces pollution, and enhances the sustainability of both agricultural and livestock production in Egypt.

Solution

RACYCL provides an innovative and practical solution by recycling agricultural waste and converting it into cost-effective, high-quality raw materials for the animal feed industry. The project utilizes advanced drying and processing technologies that preserve the nutritional value of plant residues, offering a sustainable alternative to imported corn and soybean feed components. The product has already been tested in several farms and feed factories, demonstrating strong performance in livestock feeding and reducing feed costs by up to 25%.
