  • Oakfarm College has joined FasterCapital's portfolio.
  • We help startups in building their product, increasing sales, entering new markets, finding investors, and writing and preparing their documents.
  • Entrepreneurs can join our main programs; Tech Cofounder, Grow your Startup, Idea to Product, or Raise Capital.

Idea

Our startup is innovating new methods of learning by offering courses online.
Our courses are deeply researched, rich in content and practical in nature.
We further offer an online Q&A session developed from well researched content and online coaches that gives our learners comprehensive knowledge from every perspective and based on international sources and experts.
Our courses are also modestly priced and can be taken at any time that the learner chooses to.
Our intention is to bridge the gap between the more developed economies with those of the newly emerging economies where startups are creating the needed employment in those economies.

Challenge

In Kenya and most of Africa, many students are taught primarily to recite textbook academic knowledge with little real-life applicability.
They keep asking why did I study this course yet I can barely apply it in my daily life?
This is made worse by the fact that many of the learners lack exposure learning and the practical means of converting the knowledge learnt into tangible occupations in their lives.
This occurrence has created a huge unemployment among the youth where in Kenya, the numbers currently stand at around 5 million. This state is creating a worrying instability in the country and must be addressed urgently by someone.
That is why and where we come in.
It is our hope that we shall work with Faster Capital to help our graduating students pitch their business ideas and therefore obtain the necessary funding to actualize their business ideas and bring them to actualization.
There are many such cases in Kenya and Africa at large.
Kenya has 8 million students in primary schools, 4 million in high school, 2 million in tertiary colleges and 1 million in university. This is what is creating the huge number of unemployed youth.

Solution

We offer business ideation and development in a concept called 'Race 4 Globalization' (O4G) that ensures the same knowledge that is used for industrialization is infused into our courses and lessons.
In this way, we create learners who can work anywhere in the world and who can also innovate and create their own businesses from scratch.
We have also appointed the distributors of Enigma Computers to all learning institutions in Kenya, by Matic Enterprises, a company located in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC).
We sell the same at discounted prices and in easy 18-months installments that makes it easy for every student to access and use computers in Kenya and the region.
It also makes it possible for students taking our courses easy access to the online content and international E-commerce markets.
We offer both corporate and student courses.
Those we have taught marvel at what they have learnt and are currently creators of new startups.
So far, we have contributed to the creation of 30 new startups.

Story

I came up with the idea from my frustration with the many unemployed students in my country Kenya and Africa in general.
I developed the first course titled: Business Ideation for Enterprise (A Practical Guide).
I have taught this course to more than 200 students, who have developed new businesses after I have taken them through the course and taught them the practical methods of pitching a business idea as well as the application and use of the Business Model Canvas.
I normally team 3 to 4 students to work together in formulating their business ideas.
The students continue to contact me for coaching after they complete their undergraduate or postgraduate degrees.
