LEGACY Joins FasterCapital’s LaunchUp Program to Scale Local Hygiene Innovation in Senegal
LEGACY, a hygiene product startup based in Dakar, Senegal, has officially joined FasterCapital’s LaunchUp program as it seeks to raise $5M to accelerate production and expand operations. The company, founded by Mouhamadou Lamine Thioune, aims to transform the hygiene sector in West Africa through locally manufactured, innovative products such as fruit-scented handkerchiefs, baby diapers, and sanitary towels.
By entering the LaunchUp program, LEGACY is set to benefit from FasterCapital’s support in funding, mentorship, and global networking as it looks to scale its manufacturing capacity and create significant local employment opportunities. With a vision rooted in sustainability and social impact, LEGACY addresses two of Senegal’s pressing challenges: high youth unemployment and the lack of high-quality, affordable hygiene products.
Hesham Zreik, CEO of FasterCapital, commented on the partnership:
“LEGACY represents exactly the kind of startup we’re proud to support — one that fuses social impact with smart, scalable business solutions. We see strong potential in their approach to local manufacturing and product innovation in a highly underserved market.”
He added: “The LaunchUp program is designed to give startups like LEGACY a platform to access not just capital but strategic support that ensures long-term growth and sustainability. We’re excited to be part of their journey.”
Mouhamadou Lamine Thioune, Founder and CEO of LEGACY, shared his enthusiasm: “Partnering with FasterCapital is a strategic milestone for LEGACY. We believe that with their backing, we can significantly accelerate our mission to empower local communities through job creation and bring high-quality hygiene products to every household in Senegal and beyond.”
LEGACY’s innovative approach leverages natural ingredients and consumer-friendly designs to ensure affordability, comfort, and accessibility while reducing reliance on imported goods. Through this partnership, the company is positioned to drive forward a new era of inclusive industrial growth in West Africa.
