Idea
A brief about the idea of the startup: Juantronics aims to promote tech literacy to the younger generation through our affordable smart IoT kits which is ideally supplementary to the educational curriculum. This would teach kids to learn electronics, coding, critical-thinking through design challenges, and enhances their creativity. The IoT smart kits are available for beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners. Our subscription-based e-commerce website will tailor the needs of our customers and deliver their surprise challenge kits every month.
Challenge
A brief about the problem the startup is solving: We’re trying to mitigate the tech illiteracy of the younger generation. Technology is fast evolving but is mostly used irresponsibly – e.g., unproductive browsing on social media, playing mobile games that result in tardiness or poor performance in school, developing health issues, and etc.
Solution
A brief about the solution proposed and its impact: By providing a fun and educational platform for the kids, as well as adults, we can divert their attention to more purposeful activities that would teach them basic yet essential skills that would bring out the “problem-solver” in them. This will progress them in the future to become a competent and literate candidate in the workforce.
Story
A section which included how the team of founders has met each other and came up with the startup: With the founders being university instructors and R&D engineers from the industry, Juantronics has seen the huge gap between what the academe teaches and what the industry requires. The technologies are fast developing yet our educational capabilities are still traditional. This poses a threat to future graduates who might end up incompetent and unemployable, especially in the rise of IoT and artificial intelligence.
