Jambo Cruise Adventures Joins FasterCapital’s LaunchUp Program to Revolutionize Marine Tourism in East Africa
Jambo cruise adventures LTD, a Kenya-based tourism startup founded by marine professional Calvin Oyuga Odhiambo, has officially joined the LaunchUp program by FasterCapital, a global venture builder based in the United Arab Emirates. The company is currently raising $500,000 to scale its innovative cruise tourism concept along the East African coast.
Founded in 2020, Jambo Cruise Adventures is on a mission to transform marine tourism by introducing safe, modern, and experiential cruise experiences. The company's latest project involves the development of a state-of-the-art tiki cruise vessel capable of hosting 60 guests, complete with onboard amenities such as a kitchen and restroom. The aim is to provide a premium, sustainable alternative to outdated and often unsafe colonial-era dhow cruises still prevalent in the region.
FasterCapital’s CEO Hesham Zreik expressed excitement about supporting the company:
“Jambo Cruise Adventures is addressing a crucial gap in the East African tourism sector by combining innovation, safety, and sustainability. We believe in Calvin’s vision and are glad to support the company in taking marine tourism to the next level.”
He added: “Tourism ventures that prioritize both quality and local economic impact align well with our philosophy at FasterCapital. We’re looking forward to helping Jambo Cruise grow strategically through our LaunchUp program.”
Commenting on the partnership, Jambo Cruise Adventures founder Calvin Oyuga Odhiambo shared: “Joining the LaunchUp program is a major step forward for us. We are excited to tap into FasterCapital’s support network to refine our business model and secure the funding we need. This partnership is a strong validation of our vision to elevate East Africa’s marine tourism to international standards.”
With operations based in Kenya and a founder leveraging international marine experience from Sweden, Jambo Cruise Adventures is uniquely positioned to become a game-changer in the regional tourism landscape. The funds raised will go toward the construction of the first tiki cruise vessel, expanding strategic partnerships, and boosting marketing efforts to attract both local and global tourists.
