With an estimated global audience of roughly 484 million practicing Muslim men, the company targets individuals who must maintain strict cleanliness standards before performing daily prayers. The venture is built around the recognition that a significant portion of this population lacks a convenient, purpose-built hygiene product designed specifically for their religious and practical needs.

Challenge

Istibra Project is tackling the issue of post-micturition dribble, a medically recognized condition in which small residual urine droplets may be released after urination. While common and not considered a disease, this condition creates a serious challenge for practicing Muslim men because Islamic hygiene guidelines require preventing urine from contacting the body or clothing. Currently, most men resort to improvised solutions such as wrapping toilet paper around the penis, which can lead to discomfort, skin irritation, and unreliable protection. Existing male urological pads also fail to fully solve the problem because they protect underwear rather than preventing drops from reaching the body.

Solution

Istibra Project is developing a disposable hygienic pad specifically engineered for men to prevent post-urination dribble from contacting the body or clothing. The product features a specialized ergonomic shape, breathable outer layer, and a fast-absorbing inner core designed to maintain dryness while remaining discreet under clothing. Manufactured using widely available hygiene-pad materials, the product is inexpensive to produce, comfortable during daily use, and practically invisible. By combining affordability, discretion, and effectiveness, the solution enables Muslim men to maintain cleanliness in accordance with religious guidelines while eliminating the inconvenience of current workarounds.

FasterCapital announced today that it will work with Istibra, a startup developing a disposable hygienic pad for men designed to prevent involuntary residual urine drops after urination. Istibra’s product is aimed at improving personal hygiene practices aligned with religious purification requirements for practicing Muslim men.

This collaboration through EquityPilot will focus on execution milestones in the first 30–60 days, with an emphasis on product refinement, go-to-market preparation, and channels to reach religious and community networks.

Many practicing Muslim men observe specific hygiene practices after urination as part of religious purification. Medical literature recognizes post-micturition dribble (PMD) as a common phenomenon: small amounts of urine can remain in the bulbar urethra and later escape. Existing informal solutions such as using toilet paper can be inconvenient and cause irritation. Istibra is exploring a product category intended to address a consistent behavioral need at the intersection of health, convenience, and religious practice.
