Idea

IBS - Innovare Business Solutions, Sociedade Unipessoal, Lda. is committed to addressing the most pressing challenges in the agricultural sector in Mozambique, particularly in the provinces of Manica and Tete. The project aims to tackle inefficiencies in the region’s agricultural value chain, focusing on reducing post-harvest losses, enhancing productivity, and increasing access to markets. The idea behind the startup is to modernize the agricultural processes through mechanization, intelligent storage systems, and a digital marketing platform, thereby improving local food security, creating job opportunities, and contributing to regional economic growth.

Challenge

The challenges addressed by the project are numerous and deeply ingrained in the agricultural practices of Manica and Tete. These include low agricultural productivity, high post-harvest losses, poor access to organized markets, and weak integration of smallholder farmers into the supply chain. Limited mechanization, inadequate storage infrastructure, and a lack of digital marketing channels are major bottlenecks. The project seeks to overcome these challenges by introducing technology to mechanize production, build smart silos, and create a platform that connects producers directly to markets, ultimately leading to increased income, reduced poverty, and improved food security.

Solution

The solution proposed by IBS is multi-faceted. The project includes the mechanization of agricultural processes such as planting, management, and harvesting of crops like maize, beans, and soybeans. By introducing suitable machinery, such as tractors, seeders, and harvesters, the project intends to replace manual labor and increase efficiency. Additionally, IBS plans to create smart silos to minimize post-harvest losses and ensure grain quality, along with an integrated digital platform that will connect producers to broader markets. Training programs for farmers will also be implemented, ensuring they adopt sustainable agricultural practices and maximize their productivity.
