Idea

Global Welfare Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the welfare and future of orphans and vulnerable children in The Gambia. The organization was founded on the belief that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment that supports their physical, emotional, and educational development. This project seeks to establish a permanent rehabilitation center that provides shelter, healthcare, education, and psychosocial support to children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, poverty, and other social crises. The center will serve as a model institution for child rehabilitation and empowerment across The Gambia.

Challenge

Global Welfare Foundation is addressing the growing crisis of child poverty, homelessness, and neglect among orphans and vulnerable children in The Gambia. Many of these children suffer from malnutrition, lack of education, poor healthcare, and social exclusion. The HIV/AIDS epidemic, poverty, and limited social protection programs have worsened their living conditions, particularly in rural areas. Additionally, the absence of adequate rehabilitation centers has left many children without parental care, forcing some into child-headed households. This project directly confronts these challenges by providing comprehensive care, education, and empowerment programs that restore dignity, hope, and opportunity to the lives of these children.

Solution

Global Welfare Foundation is implementing the Establishing Rehabilitation Center for Orphans and Vulnerable Children project as a sustainable and holistic approach to addressing the critical needs of disadvantaged children. The proposed center will provide a stable home, food security, access to education, and healthcare services. It will also introduce vocational and life skills training to equip children with the tools necessary for self-reliance and future employment. By mobilizing resources from global donors and local partners, the foundation aims to create a self-sustaining environment where vulnerable children can thrive and grow into productive citizens.
