EYDO-SL envisions building a self-reliant and motivated youth population by connecting them directly to opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness.

Challenge

Ethnic Youth Development Organization (EYDO-SL) is addressing critical challenges in Sierra Leone’s agriculture sector, particularly the exploitation of farmers by middlemen, poor access to established markets, and heavy reliance on expensive imports. Farmers often lose profits due to unfair trade practices and lack of storage, processing, and transportation infrastructure. EYDO-SL bridges this gap by connecting farmers directly with institutional buyers such as hotels, restaurants, NGOs, and government feeding programs. By tackling these systemic challenges, the organization empowers farmers, reduces food imports, and contributes to national food security while creating income opportunities for youth.

It works with vegetables such as pepper, cabbage, carrot, and tomato, alongside dry goods like groundnuts, rice, palm oil, honey, and sesame.
