Idea

Eon Ora Ltd is a cross-border digital payments startup headquartered in Kiambu, Kenya, created to solve one of the biggest pain points for Africa’s fast-growing digital workforce: seamless access to global earnings. Millions of African freelancers, entrepreneurs, and content creators earn income through PayPal and other international platforms, yet remain locked out of reliable, affordable, and fast ways to access their money locally. Eon Ora Ltd exists to unlock that access and enable financial inclusion at scale.

Challenge

Eon Ora Ltd is addressing the systemic challenges of Africa’s fragmented payments landscape: high transaction fees, long delays, reliance on informal brokers, and exclusion from reliable financial infrastructure. Across much of the continent, regulated PayPal-to-mobile integrations are scarce or unreliable, forcing workers to lose money through multi-step conversions or black-market channels. By directly bridging global payment systems with Africa’s mobile money networks, Eon Ora Ltd solves these challenges — empowering millions to fully participate in the global digital economy.

Solution

Eon Ora Ltd is building a real-time, API-based platform that allows users to instantly withdraw PayPal balances — and soon, other remittance services like Western Union — directly into mobile money wallets such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money, T-Kash, Orange Money, and EcoCash. Unlike existing solutions limited to single-country partnerships or bank-dependent routes, EON’s system is designed to be universal, instant, secure, and cost-effective — giving Africa’s freelancers, gig workers, and SMEs a seamless gateway to their global earnings.
