Idea

Development Radiance is a community-focused non-profit founded in May 2024 in Muleba District, Kagera Region, with the idea of closing opportunity gaps for women, youth and children by preventing early marriage and teenage pregnancy and by tackling the economic and social barriers that keep young people from finishing education and building stable livelihoods.

Challenge

Development Radiance is addressing the core challenges of early marriage, teenage pregnancy, economic hardship and community marginalization that leave many girls (notably those aged 18–25) with children early and few opportunities; by focusing on empowerment, collaboration and sustainable interventions, the organization aims to reduce these risks and improve long-term well-being.

Solution

Development Radiance is delivering a practical solution through targeted educational programs, gender-equality initiatives, women’s empowerment activities and agri-food development projects that build skills, create income pathways, and strengthen local support networks so girls and young women can stay in school, earn independently, and access healthier life choices.

Story

In Tanzania, among girls aged 18-25, one in ten has one or two children, often born while living at home. Many of these girls face challenges such as early marriage, economic hardship, and teenage pregnancy..
