Idea

Anem Brothers Group is a Tanzanian startup dedicated to establishing a commercial tilapia cage farming enterprise on Lake Victoria to combat food insecurity. With a mission to produce safe, high-quality fish protein, the company aims to bridge the supply-demand gap in local and regional fish markets. By harnessing aquaculture innovation, anem brothers group intends to meet the growing nutritional needs of Tanzania’s population while positioning Mwanza as a key hub for sustainable fish farming in East Africa.

Challenge

Anem Brothers Group is tackling the urgent challenges of overfishing, fish protein shortages, and poor-quality supply in Tanzania. Lake Victoria's declining natural fish stocks and the growing urban demand for safe, affordable protein have created a critical gap in the market. anem brothers group addresses this by offering a reliable, sustainable alternative to wild-caught fish—enhancing food safety, improving livelihoods, and helping to restore ecological balance.

Solution

Anem Brothers Group is providing an innovative aquaculture solution through eco-friendly tilapia cage farming. Utilizing proven, high-yield technologies, the startup will cultivate traceable, fresh tilapia year-round in floating HDPE cages. This method ensures consistent production, reduces environmental impact, and delivers premium-quality fish to local markets, hospitality businesses, schools, and regional exporters, addressing both food security and economic development.
