Idea

Agrosfera is a Russian agricultural company dedicated to transforming the vegetable production and supply chain through the creation of a large-scale Venlo-type Greenhouse Complex and Ecobrik 16 refrigerated warehouse system. The company aims to ensure year-round cultivation of fresh, high-quality vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs, while maintaining consistent delivery to major distribution centers and retail chains across Russia. By combining advanced greenhouse technology, efficient logistics, and in-house refrigerated transportation, Agrosfera seeks to strengthen the domestic production of vegetables and reduce reliance on imports.

Challenge

Agrosfera is addressing critical challenges in Russia’s agricultural sector, including the deficit of modern greenhouse facilities, the high cost of construction and logistics, and the seasonal instability of vegetable supply. The company’s project responds to the growing national demand for fresh, locally produced vegetables by creating an efficient production and distribution system that operates year-round. By locating in the southern Volgograd region—an area with favorable energy and climate conditions—Agrosfera minimizes energy expenses, transportation costs, and product losses, while contributing to food security and import substitution in Russia’s vegetable market.

Solution

Agrosfera is implementing a comprehensive agricultural infrastructure project that integrates production, storage, and transportation into a unified system. The solution involves constructing a 100-hectare glass greenhouse complex for intensive vegetable cultivation and a 16,000-ton capacity refrigerated warehouse equipped with modern packaging and pre-sale processing lines. To ensure efficient logistics, the company plans to operate its own fleet of 40 refrigerated trucks for direct delivery to retail partners such as Magnit and X5 Retail Group. This vertically integrated approach guarantees the freshness, quality, and timely supply of produce to consumers throughout the Russian Federation.
